The Way College is designed to give students a comprehensive view of the Bible, a robust experience of Christian community, and opportunity to grow one’s leadership within local church ministry. 

Theology

With formation and ministry in mind, the program will give students a deep and grounded theological education taught by capable scholars and experienced ministry practitioners.

Ministry

Students will be given opportunities to gain hands-on ministry experience working alongside The Way Church team and lay leaders to train them for future ministry leadership.

Formation

This program is designed to help develop and deepen students’ discipleship to Jesus through intentional formative practices and relational cohorts designed to foster deeper integration between theology, ministry and practice.

Who is The Way College for?

Year 1

Year 1 is designed for anyone desiring to deepen their walk with God, grow in maturity, and explore a call to and set a foundation for vocational ministry.

Years 2-4

Years 2-4 are designed for graduates of the first year program that are looking to pursue vocational ministry and/or pastoral leadership.

What does a typical week of The Way College look like?

A typical week includes formal learning experiences, chapel, serving opportunities, church gatherings and connection times with classmates inside and outside the classroom.

Classes run from 9:00am - 3:00pm on Wednesday and from 9:00am-12:15 on Thursdays, with the first year students engaging in Freedom Session on Thursday nights from 6:30-9:00pm. Students will also join a small group at their church and regularly participate on their serve team. 

Our learning experiences are lecture based, interactive environments designed for deep comprehension of material.

What learning experiences will be included?

In Year 1 each student will study The Story of Scripture, Influential Christian Figures, Philosophy of Ministry, Spiritual Formation, Psalms, Galatians, Functional Introduction to Biblical Languages, Freedom Session and Vocation and Calling.

  • The program consists of learning experiences*, group cohorts, and worship environments designed and led by The Way Church staff and guest lecturers. Additionally, students are given opportunities to gain hands-on ministry experience working alongside The Way Church team and lay leaders.

    The program is designed to give students a well-rounded theological education, practical hands-on experience in ministry, and an environment where they can cultivate the strong character and healthy rhythms needed for sustained Christian discipleship and ministry.

  • The Way College is a contextualization partner of Kairos University (Kairos.edu). Credits earned are transferable to many other post-secondary Christian institutions. For specific inquires fill out our form here.

  • The 2025/2026 year runs from September to April. The first Semester runs from September 10th-December 11th 2025. The second semester runs from January 7th to April 9th.

  • Students should expect approximately 5-7 hours of homework each week in the form of reading and assignments. As a competency based program, class assignments consist of participation, reflections, academic papers, presentations and hands-on activities.

  • Yes. We recommend working 20-30 hours a week, providing the hours can work alongside the weekly college schedule. However, current students have worked more hours and managed the college schedule.

  • We do not provide housing as part of the program, although we encourage you to connect with people at The Way Church to inquire about potential rental options.

  • Learning experiences, workshops and chapel will be held at The Way Church Offices & Ministry Space on 1155 Thurlow St. in Downtown Vancouver.

  • This really depends on preference and where you live. All our Sunday sites, offices and class locations are easily accessible through transit.

  • No. However, we ask that all students regularly attend their local church and engage in a small group and serve on a team as part of the program. On occasion, students will be asked to observe a Way Church small group or service for class purposes.
