About

Spring Intensives is a one-week collection of learning experiences—from The Way College and for the local church.

Throughout four days of classes and two evening lectures, we will spend time in teaching, Q&R, worship & connection.

Join us for an evening, take a single class, or come for the whole week!

Students will grow in areas of biblical studies, theology, and more—engaging with leading thinkers and practitioners while participating in a rich learning environment.

Intensives

Both intensives run Tuesday to Friday, each day beginning with worship. Time for reflection, conversation, and Q+R will be interspersed throughout the day.

Darrell Johnson

Introduction to the Gospel of John

9:30AM-12PM

  • No other document, except perhaps Paul's epistle to the Romans, has had the kind of redeeming, transforming effect on human existence that John's Gospel has.

After wrestling with some of the major critical issues, we will work our way through the book one section at a time, trusting that John's purpose in writing will be fulfilled in us: 'these things have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in his name.'

Chris Price (+ Andy Steiger & Kyla Gillespie)

Contemporary Issues & Ethics

1:30-3:30PM

  • As followers of Jesus, we are confronted with complex issues and ethical concerns every day of our lives. Is MAID a compassionate response to suffering? What about environmental degradation? Is the Christian sex ethic outdated and oppressive? How should we respond to emerging gender identities?

A Biblical worldview can provide a compelling response to these questions and more. We will engage in in-depth Bible study & ethical reasoning with the end goal of equipping the student to enter into these potentially explosive conversations with grace, wisdom and compassionate insight.

Evening Intensives

Focused seminars for the church, featuring a lecture followed by a time of Q+R.

Kyla Gillespie

In her teens, wrestling with both same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria, life became difficult. She spent her late teens and adult years as a Professional Women's Hockey Player. After a lifelong battle with Gender Identity, in 2011 she fully transitioned from female to male. While living as a male for six years, God revealed himself to her in a powerful way. Since then she has fully de-transitioned and is now living out her God-given gender and sexuality as a woman in pursuit of Jesus.
