Christianity is a table, not a ladder

As followers of Jesus, we remember his death on the cross for our sins through food and drink.

Communion.

Bread and wine around a table.

Elements representative of Jesus’ body given for us and his blood shed for us on the cross.

At the core of what plagues us as humans is this desire to take, take, take, take.

At the centre of God’s story is an act of self-giving; an invitation to participate in the inner life and love of God and reflect His self-giving agape to others through our own tables.

Christianity is not a ladder of moral and religious achievements that we climb to be close to God’s love.

It is more like a table where God comes to dine with us in love.

God invites us to his table and we, in turn, invite others to taste and see that He is good through our tables.
